Welcome to Zazengo, a shared web platform for users, organizations and other groups to connect and collaborate together to achieve and demonstrate positive social impact. Zazengo's Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we collect and use the personal information you decide to share, and help you make informed decisions when using Zazengo, located at zazengo.com and its directly associated domains (collectively, “Zazengo” or “the Service”).

By using Zazengo, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy and are consenting to have your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States.

What Information Do We Collect?

Personal Information

  • User/Organization Provided Information: You provide certain personally identifiable information (such as your name and email address) to Zazengo when choosing to participate in various activities on the Service such as uploading pictures or videos, posting messages in forums, starting and maintaining a project or subscribing to newsletters or other mailing lists. We will inform you when we collect personally identifiable information.

Non-Personal Information

  • Cookies: While using the Service, we may send one or more cookies - a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters - to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. The Service may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser. Persistent cookies may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser help file directions. How Do We Use The Information We Collect?
We use the information we collect about you to facilitate the volunteering process and to provide information to you about new volunteer opportunities posted on Zazengo. Please be aware that, to the extent required to provide our services, we share your personal information with volunteers or organization partners, as applicable.

If you indicate on your profile page that you are interested in a particular volunteer opportunity and provide us with your contact information, we will forward you information about other users or organizations hosting similar opportunities so that you can contact them regarding your potential involvement. We will do the same for other users regarding your interests as well.

Organizations who receive email addresses from potential volunteer sign-ups are strongly encouraged to adopt privacy standards similar to those of Zazengo. Each such organization has its own policies regarding collection and use of personal information and we are not responsible for their use of your personal information. Inappropriate use by third party organizations of personal information received from Zazengo may jeopardize their membership in Zazengo. Zazengo reserves the right to determine, in its discretion, what constitutes inappropriate use of this information. Notwithstanding the foregoing, users are responsible for reviewing the privacy policies of the specific organization they associate with through Zazengo or anywhere on the Internet. We strongly suggest you review the third party organization’s privacy policies prior to agreeing to join projects or campaigns on Zazengo sponsored by those organizations. Please contact them directly using the contact information posted for that organization on their site or organization page. By continuing your use of the Service, you are deemed to have reviewed and accepted the privacy policies of our partner organizations with which you interact through the Service.

Please realize that any personal information or video content that you voluntarily disclose online (on discussion boards, in messages, within your public profile page, on your projects page, etc.) becomes publicly available and can be collected and used by others. This is true on Zazengo and most other web sites. Your username and any other information you choose to show is displayed to other users when you upload videos or send messages through Zazengo and other users can contact you through messages and comments. Any videos that you submit to Zazengo may be redistributed through the Internet and other media channels, and may be viewed by the general public.

We do not use your email address or other personally identifiable information to send commercial or marketing messages without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out. We may, however, use your email address without further consent for non-marketing or administrative purposes (such as notifying you of major changes or for customer service purposes).

We use both your personally identifiable information and certain non-personally-identifiable information (such as anonymous User usage data, cookies, IP addresses, browser type, clickstream data, etc.) to improve the quality and design of Zazengo and to create new features, functionality, and services by storing, tracking, and analyzing user preferences and trends. From time to time we may employ third parties to help us improve our website. These third parties may have limited access to databases of website user information or registered member information solely for the purpose of helping us to improve the Service and they will not be able to use the information about our users for any other purpose.

We use cookies and log file information to: (a) remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit Zazengo; (b) provide custom, personalized content and information; (c) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, etc.; and (d) track your submissions and status in projects.

Important Exceptions

How Can You Access or Correct Your Information?

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

You can help protect the security of your personal information. For instance, never give out your password, and remember to log out of your account and close your browser window when you finish using the Zazengo site, so that other people using the same computer won't have access to your personal information. We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited e-mail.

Changes to Policy
We may change our privacy policy from time to time. Please empower yourself to stay up to date on the privacy policies of all the sites you frequent on the Internet. If our privacy policy changes, we will post the changes to the privacy policy on this page and will indicate at the top of this page the date this policy was last revised. Users Who are Under 18
Zazengo does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under age 13 you are not allowed to use Zazengo. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. We recommend that minors over the age of 13 ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet. Third Party Advertising or Sponsorships
Advertisements or sponsorships that appear on Zazengo can be placed based on the content of the page you are viewing such as the type of project and location, the organization association, or other content tags associated with the page. Your individual information is not made available to an advertiser directly from Zazengo. Once you click on the advertisement, you will be leaving Zazengo and our privacy policy and Terms of Use no longer apply. We encourage you to understand the privacy policy and Terms of Use of all web sites you visit.
